Property Description: The second of two walks today! Nancy and John Gonsiorek have been tending their very wild acre for over 25 years. When they purchased their home, the previous owners touted the property as “the greenest lawn in the neighborhood.” The new homeowners quickly noticed a lack of pollinators and soil that was devoid of worms or any beneficial insects from years of lawn chemical treatments. Today, after years of compost, mulch, and native plantings, the yard has been transformed into a thriving habitat, where grass is just something we walk on as we wander the gardens. The Gonsiorek’s have a roadside prairie around the front perimeter of the property, a variety of native trees and shrubs, and a fabulous organic, heirloom veggie garden with raised beds and gravel paths that even the snakes enjoy! The guided walk will begin at 11:15am.
Directions: From the Michehl property: Head south on Larkspur for a quarter mile. Turn right on Springs Boulevard followed by a left on Wisteria. After a quarter mile, make a right on Pleasant Hill Road. Then a left on Buckhorn Drive. Street parking available.
