DESCRIPTION:Description:  As you walk along the paths\, you’ll meander through oak forests (with bottle brush and other natives on the forest floor)\, a restored pond\, prairie fields on gently rolling hills with wide vistas of sky and edged by oaks. Many species of birds are attracted to this beautiful parcel which has been lovingly restored by removing invasive species and planting native plants.  This parcel was purchased with the intent of protecting it from development.  It’s located just west of the Hackmatack National Forest footprint\, and is surrounded by natural areas owned by McHenry County Conservation District\, the Land Conservancy and Openlands. \nJim Keenan and Dorothy Robin will guide you on this walk.  The guided walk will begin at 10am. \nDirections:  Parking will be at the Alden United Methodist Church.  Take Rt 47 north from Woodstock.  At the stop sign\, turn left on Charles Rd.  After a few miles\, Charles Rd will turn into Alden Rd.  Continue north to Rt 173.  Turn left\, and the church will be a short distance on the right.  16532 IL Rte 173\, Harvard\, IL \n
