Tick Season is here!

  • July 19, 2020

Enjoy the outdoors, but be aware of ticks!

As we deal with lockdowns and closures this summer, many of us have taken advantage of the extra time to visit local parks and conservation areas.  McHenry County is blessed with numerous natural areas thanks to our park districts and organizations such as McHenry County Conservation District and the Land Conservancy.  There’s no doubt that a healthy dose of nature is a fantastic way to get some exercise and lift our spirits.  Although it’s great for our health, being outdoors can increase chances of coming into contact with pests such as ticks.  Luckily, being aware and taking some simple precautions can minimize any risk.  The McHenry County Department of Health has published a Tick Awareness Flyer that provides some information and simple precautions that will help avoid any tick issues this summer.
